What are roof racks?
A set of roof racks (load bars) serves as the base on which a roof box, ski carrier or bike carrier can be mounted. Roof racks run from the driver’s side to the passenger’s side and should not be confused with roof rails, which run lengthwise on the roof from the factory. Roof rails still require racks to be mounted on them. If you already have roof racks, our roof boxes will fit on them (as long as they are not wider than 8 cm). If you do not have them, you can rent them from us.
Car roof and roof rack
Almost every car is prepared by the manufacturer for the installation of roof racks. Often, the mounting points are not visibly present; this is referred to as a “normal roof”. Mounting systems are sometimes clearly visible. Roof rails, fixed mounting points (fixpoints) and flush rails are the most common. Read more here about roof types and mounting systems.

Roof racks must always be installed exactly according to the manual. They should always be mounted on a clean and dry roof. Installation is a free service and is carried out professionally at one of our 96 rental locations.
