Rent Roof Racks for Cars with Fixpoints
What is a fixpoint roof rack mounting system?
If the car has small flaps or covers on the roof, there are almost always fixed points underneath.
Inside the roof structure there are threaded holes or another construction designed for mounting roof racks.
The mounting points under a flap or sliding cover were introduced in the early 1990s and were increasingly adopted by car manufacturers. Recently, we see a slight shift away from them again.
Sometimes a factory-installed roof rail can be mounted onto the fixpoints.
Brands that frequently use fixpoints include:
- BMW
- Citroën
- Ford
- Hyundai I-series
- Mazda
- Mercedes
- Opel
- Peugeot
- Renault
Other roof types: Flushrail - Bare roof – Open Roof Rails - T-track - Gutter
